COUNSELLING & ADMISSION

MBBS

Barasat Government Medical College & Hospital is a Government Medical Colleges. Hence its 15% seats are open for All India candidates (All India Quota - AIQ seats) and 85% seats are reserved for state domiciled candidates of West Bengal (State Quota – SQ seats). Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts the centralized counselling for 15% All India Quota seats of Barasat Government Medical College & Hospital along with other Central & State govt colleges, Central Universities (All AIIMS, IMS BHU, JIPMERs etc.) and Deemed colleges. Counselling of 85% State Quota seats lies with the State Counselling Authorities. West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) conducts the Counselling & Seat Allotment process of these 85% State Quota seats.

Quota: The Candidates who have qualified through NEET UG (UR/EWS cutoff 50 percentile, UR-PwD/EWS-PwD cutoff 45 percentile, SC/ST/OBC/SC-PwD/ST-PwD/OBC-PwD cutoff 40 percentile) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) can participate in the counselling for admission in Barasat Government Medical College & Hospital under following Quota

  1. All India Quota (AIQ) – Centralized counselling by MCC
  2. State Quota (SQ) – State counselling by WBMCC

All India Quota (15% seats): No domicile is required for such AIQ seats. NEET Qualified Candidates belonging to any State/Union Territory of India are eligible to participate in the counselling.

State Quota (85% seats): Either the NEET Qualified candidate or his/her parent/s must be domiciled resident of West Bengal. Following are the types of Domicile Proformas accepted

  1. Proforma A1: Residential/Domicile certificate for candidates residing in the state of West Bengal continuously for at least last 10 years as on 31st December of the last Academic Year. Candidate must have passed class 10 or equivalent and class 12 or equivalent from the state of West Bengal.
  2. Proforma A2: Residential/Domicile certificate for candidates residing in the state of West Bengal continuously for at least last 10 years as on 31st December of the last Academic Year, where the candidate has passed 10+2 examination in the current Academic Year from state of West Bengal.
  3. Proforma B: Residential/Domicile certificate for candidates NOT residing in the state of West Bengal continuously for at least last 10 years as on 31st December of the last Academic Year (i.e, candidate have passed either class 10 or class 12 or both from outside West Bengal) but whose parent/s are permanent resident/s of West Bengal having their permanent home address within west Bengal and living continuously for at least last 10 years as on 31st December of the last Academic Year
  4. E District Portal:  Valid domicile from West Bengal E District Portal (https://edistrict.wb.gov.in) will also be accepted as a proof of domicile.

Note: In case of proforma b or e-district domicile, it is required to produce any two of the original ID proof (Voter ID, Aadhar Card and Passport)

 

 

Reservation Policy

Central reservation policy is applicable for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) Seats

  • Schedule Caste (SC) – 15%
  • Schedule Tribe (ST) – 7.5%
  • Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) OBC – 27%
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) – 10%
  • Person with Disabilities (PwD) – 5% Horizontal reservation

State reservation policy (Category/Caste reservation) of West Bengal is applicable for the 85% State Quota seats

Counselling Process

MCC NEET UG counselling process involves the following steps

  1. Registration: Register Online with NEET details (Roll No and registered phone no & mail ID), generate candidate profile with Personal & Academic details and pay the Registration Fee & Counselling Security Deposit online via Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI/Net Banking.
  2. Choice Filling & Locking: Online choice filling of preferred colleges in descending order followed by choice locking within scheduled date & time. MCC website also support choice auto lock after the choice locking period is over.
  3. Seat Allotment / Result Declaration: MCC releases the combined seat allotment list for all Central & State govt colleges, Central Universities (All AIIMS, IMS BHU, JIPMERs etc.) and Deemed colleges. Seat allotment is purely based on Merit (Central Merit List based on AIR).
  4. Reporting at the Institute/Centre: After downloading allotment letter, candidate has to physically report to the allotted college. Candidate has to bring all the original documents along with the requisite fee payment.

MCC NEET UG Counselling Fees

  1. Non-Refundable Registration Fee - Rs 1000/- for UR/EWS candidates and Rs 500/- for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates
  2. Refundable Security Deposit - Rs.10,000/- for UR/EWS candidates & Rs. 5,000/- for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates

  5. Reporting at the Institute/Centre: After downloading allotment letter, candidate has to physically report to the allotted centre as mentioned in the allotment letter. In case of Govt College, allotted college is the reporting centre. However, in case of private colleges, reporting is conducted centrally at one selected Govt. Medical College within Kolkata. Candidate has to bring all the original documents along with the requisite fee payment.

 

WBMCC NEET UG Counselling Fees – Registration fees only

  1. Non-Refundable Registration Fee - Rs 2000/- for UR candidates and Rs 1500/- for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD candidates

Educational qualifications

Candidate must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Bio-technology at the qualifying examination as mentioned in the Regulations of NMC and DCI.

Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or Other Backward Classes (NCL), the minimum marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology taken together in the qualifying examination shall be 40% marks

Qualifying Year

Candidates who have passed Class XII or appearing for Class XII in the Academic Year are eligible for NEET UG exam, subject to fulfilling other conditions.
