The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a state-level entrance test which is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). Those candidates who wish to get admission to undergraduate Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, and Architecture courses in colleges across West Bengal, have to sit and qualify this exam. The exam is OMR-based (offline) and consists of two papers: Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics & Chemistry). Candidates must qualify in both papers to secure a rank for Engineering admissions.

Who have completed 10+2 with the required subjects are eligible for apply. The selection process includes merit ranking, counselling, and seat allotment through a centralized process. WBJEE is a crucial exam for students aspiring to enter prestigious institutions like Jadavpur University, IIEST Shibpur, and various state-funded universities.

Steps of Application

  • Register on wbjeeb.nic.in.
  • Fill out the application form with personal, academic, and contact details.
  • Upload documents (photo, signature, category certificate, etc.).
  • Pay the application fee online via Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
  • Submit & print the confirmation page for future reference.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality:

  • Must be an Indian citizen.
  • OCI candidates can apply but are eligible for unreserved seats only.

2. Age Limit:

  • Minimum Age: 17 years as of December 31, 2025.
  • Upper Age Limit: No limit (except for Marine Engineering – maximum 25 years).

3. Educational Qualification:

  • Must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognized board.
  • For Engineering/Technology:
    • Subjects: Physics, Mathematics (compulsory), and one from Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science/Biotechnology.
    • Minimum Marks: 45% (40% for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD).
    • Must have passed English with 30% marks.
  • For Pharmacy:
    • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry (compulsory), and one from Mathematics/Biology.
    • Minimum Marks: 45% (40% for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD).

  • Offline (OMR-based)
  • Pen-and-Paper format
  • Candidates must darken the correct options using a blue/black ballpoint pen.

Total Duration: 4 Hours (240 Minutes)
Exam is conducted in two shifts:

    • Duration: 2 Hours
    • Timing: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

The WBJEE syllabus is based on the Class 11 & 12 curriculum of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) and CBSE.

1️. Mathematics (Paper 1)

  • Algebra: Quadratic Equations, Permutations & Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Matrices & Determinants
  • Trigonometry: Trigonometric Ratios, Identities, Heights & Distances
  • Coordinate Geometry: Straight Lines, Circles, Parabola, Ellipse, Hyperbola
  • Calculus: Limits, Continuity, Differentiation, Integration, Differential Equations
  • Vectors & 3D Geometry

2️. Physics (Paper 2 - Part A)

  • Mechanics: Laws of Motion, Work & Energy, Gravitation, Fluid Mechanics
  • Electricity & Magnetism: Current Electricity, Capacitors, Magnetic Effects of Current
  • Optics & Waves: Reflection, Refraction, Wave Optics, Sound Waves
  • Modern Physics: Atomic Models, Radioactivity, Semiconductors

3️. Chemistry (Paper 2 - Part B)

  • Physical Chemistry: Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, Thermodynamics, Chemical Equilibrium

Step 1: Registration

  • Register using WBJEE roll number and personal details
  • Pay the counselling registration fee

 

Step 2: Choice Filling & Locking

  • Select preferred colleges and courses
  • Lock choices before the deadline

 

Step 3: Seat Allotment (Round-Wise)

  • Seats are allotted based on WBJEE rank, category, and preferences
  • Check the allotment result online

 

Step 4: Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee

  • If allotted a seat, pay the seat acceptance fee online

 

Step 5: Document Verification
