The controversy surrounding the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak continues to spark strong reactions across India. Maharashtra minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule recently made a strong statement against those involved in the scandal, saying that the accused have “ruined the lives of students” and should face strict punishment.
The statement came amid growing public anger after the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026, which affected lakhs of medical aspirants across the country. According to reports, Bawankule said the people responsible for the alleged leak had destroyed the hard work, mental peace, and future plans of genuine students who prepared honestly for the examination.
He further stated that strict action should be taken against all individuals involved in the malpractice network. The minister reportedly emphasized that those accused should face severe legal consequences so that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.
The NEET-UG 2026 examination, originally conducted on 3 May 2026, was later cancelled after allegations of paper leaks and organized cheating emerged from multiple states. Following the controversy, the Government ordered a CBI investigation, while several petitions were also filed in the Supreme Court of India seeking reforms in the examination system.
The issue has triggered massive concern among students, parents, and educators nationwide. Many aspirants have expressed frustration and emotional stress after months of preparation were affected by the controversy. Coaching institutes and education experts have also demanded stronger security systems, digital monitoring, and stricter accountability for national-level entrance examinations. Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency has announced that the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam will be conducted on 21 June 2026 with enhanced security arrangements. Students are now waiting for fresh admit cards and updated guidelines from the NTA.
