The National Testing Agency has announced major institutional reforms and leadership expansion to improve transparency, security, and operational efficiency in national-level examinations. The announcement was made through an official press release issued on 19 May 2026.

According to the notice, the Government of India has posted four senior officers to the NTA, including two Joint Secretary-level officers and two Director-level officers, to strengthen the agency’s administrative and operational structure. These appointments are part of the recommendations made by the High-Level Expert Committee formed to reform examination systems in India.

The NTA has also invited applications for three major leadership positions:

  • Chief Technology Officer (CTO),
  • Chief Finance Officer (CFO),
  • and General Manager – Human Resources (GM-HR).

The newly proposed CTO role will focus on modernising the digital examination ecosystem using advanced technologies such as:

  • AI-based monitoring,
  • biometric and face authentication,
  • cybersecurity systems,
  • and anomaly detection analytics.

The reform programme further includes:

  • stronger question paper security,
  • technology-driven examination safeguards,
  • improved governance and audit systems,
  • professional HR management,
  • and better student grievance redressal mechanisms.

These reforms come after recent examination controversies that raised concerns among students, parents, and educational institutions nationwide. The Ministry of Education stated that the measures aim to rebuild trust in the national examination system and ensure greater integrity and transparency in future examinations conducted by the NTA.
