The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, the organizing body for JEE Advanced 2025, has officially released the eligibility criteria for the exam. Candidates aspiring to appear for JEE Advanced must fulfill specific conditions set by the authorities. Failing to meet these requirements will result in disqualification. JEE Advanced 2025 was scheduled to be held in two sessions:
Paper 1: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM IST
Paper 2: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM IST

Overview of JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria
To gain admission to IITs through JEE Advanced, candidates must satisfy five key eligibility criteria:
Criterion 1 – JEE Main 2025 Qualification. Candidates must:
- Qualify in JEE Main 2025 (Paper 1).
- Be among the top 2,50,000 candidates based on performance in JEE Main.

Criterion 2 – Number of Attempts: Candidates can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
Criterion 3 – Age Limit: Candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000. A 5-year relaxation is granted for candidates from SC, ST, and PwD categories (i.e., born on or after October 1, 1995). Candidates should verify any updates to the age criteria in the official JEE Advanced 2025 brochure.
Criterion 4 – Previous IIT Admissions
Ineligible: Candidates previously admitted to any IIT or ISM, even if the seat was accepted or admission was canceled.
Eligible: Candidates who were allocated an IIT seat in 2024 butdid not report at the reporting center or online had their admission canceled before the final round, or Withdrew before the last round of seat allotment.
Criterion 5 – Class 12th or Equivalent Qualification
Eligible: Those who appeared for Class 12 in 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Not Eligible: Those who first appeared in Class 12 in 2023 or earlier.
Exception: If a board declared results for the 2022–2023 academic session on or after September 21, 2023, such candidates may still be eligible—provided all other criteria are met. If results were announced before that date, and withheld for any reason, the candidate is not eligible.
Final Note: To appear for JEE Advanced 2025, candidates must simultaneously meet all five eligibility criteria. Staying updated with official announcements and carefully checking eligibility at each stage is essential for a smooth application process.
